Romania's Finance Ministry wants new fiscal receipt lottery strategy

22 April 2015

Romania’s Public Finance Ministry wants to change the approach for the fiscal receipt lottery.

There are too many winners, and the individual winnings are too small, said Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici. The time is too short for the next draw in May, but the Ministry will change the strategy starting June, reports local Digi24.

Romanians submitted over 9,000 fiscal receipts so far after the first draw on Easter.

The lottery offers a total prize of EUR 226,000, divided between all winners. The winning receipts are the ones issued on February 7, with a value of RON 6.00 to RON 6.99.

In order to claim prizes, winners must submit the tax receipt in original at any local unit of Romania’s Tax Authority ANAF by May 13. The lottery will be organized monthly.

Fiscal lottery prize further shrinks as more Romanians claim winning receipts.
