Romania's Finance Ministry borrows from commercial banks at historic low

The Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) borrowed on Thursday, January 22, EUR 177.7 million from commercial banks through an 11-month government bond auction, at an average yield of 1.36%, a historic low.

Nine banks subscribed offers totaling EUR 333.2 million, reports local Economica.net.

The MFP has borrowed about EUR 647.4 million since the beginning of the year.

The Finance Ministry intends to obtain about EUR 2.2-2.66 billion by issuing treasury bills and about EUR 5.55 - 6.2 billion through benchmark bonds.
