Romania's Budget & Finance Committees adopt 2015 draft budget

19 December 2014

The Budget and Finance Committees in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate adopted on December 18 the draft budget for 2015 with only two votes "against" and one abstention, with some amendments, after a marathon debate that lasted three days, reports local Mediafax.

The general debate on the draft state budget for 2015 began Tuesday in the presence of Daniela Pescaru, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Public Finance, and despite objections on the absence of Minister Darius Valcov. The debate was completed Thursday night, after 10pm.

The Budget and Finance Committee's report will be discussed today, December 19, in the Parliament, with the final vote due to take place on Sunday, December 21, the same day the new president of Romania Klaus Iohannis will take oath before the Parliament.

The Ministries of Labour, Development, Finance, EU Funds, Agriculture, Environment, Transport, and Economy will have higher budgets next year, while allocations to ministries of Health, Culture and Administration and Interior will be lower.
