Romanian prosecutors: Apa Nova ran its own „intelligence service”

02 November 2015

French company Apa Nova, which supplies the water and sewerage services in Bucharest and it’s now indicted for corruption, had its own security service, according to the National Anticorruption Directorate DNA.

The company hired former employees of the national intelligence service, who carried out stakeouts and wiretappings in order to prevent the disclosing of the company’s illegal activities.

The company’s employees were constantly supervised and controlled, so they wouldn’t disclose any information about the firm’s illegal activities.

In 2010, Apa Nova directors Bruno Roche, Laurent Lalague, and Lavinia Teodora Saniuta signed the agreement contract with SIS Strategy to spy and carry out interceptions in the interest of those who controlled Apa Nova. The agreement was followed by similar contracts between 2010 and 2015.

Apa Nova, which is controlled by French group Veolia, is in the middle of this year’s biggest corporate corruption scandal. The company’s French managers apparently bribed Bucharest’s high officials to accept higher water prices for consumers in Bucharest.
