Romanian movie ‘The Medal of Honor’, starring former president Iliescu, on cinema screens from Friday
The film, directed by Calin Netzer, has received a special Jury prize at the eight edition of the Film festival in Zagreb in November. The movie also received five prizes at the Salonic Film festival. The film is a black comedy about a pensioner in Romania of the 90s (played by Victor Rebengiuc), who received a prize for his bravery during the Second World War.
Ion Iliescu plays his own character- the president of Romania in 1995. Iliescu, 80, served as Romanian president between 1990 and 1996, and between 2000 and 2004 in a second term. He is currently the honorary president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and a Senator in the Romanian Parliament.
