Romanian chemical fertilizer producer tries to adapt to environmental norms

04 November 2015

Romanian chemical fertilizer producer Azomures Targu Mures has put into operation the first equipment which was acquired as part of an investment project amounting to over EUR 240 million. The company tries to adapt to stricter environmental standards.

The new equipment is part of one of the chemical plant’s ammonium nitrate granulation units. It captures and washes emissions reducing the quantity of polluting agents released into the atmosphere. The unit has required an investment of EUR 4 million.

The company will soon complete installing a similar equipment on its second granulation unit, following a EUR 4.5 million investment.

Swiss agri-business group Ameropa took over Azomures in 2012.
