Prime Minister Victor Ponta has asked the Finance Minister Darius Valcov and the National Bank of Romania's (BNR) Governor Mugur Isarescu to talk about the accelerated growth of the Swiss Franc, reports local Capital.ro.

The currency appreciated on the international markets on Thursday, January 15, by 30% against the Euro, after the Swiss Central Bank’s announcement that it will end of Swiss Franc’s peg to the Euro at CHF 1.20/EUR, which it used in the past three years.

The Swiss franc continued to appreciate on Friday, January 16, against the Romanian leu. BNR has calculated a rate of RON 4.4228/ CHF.

The Swiss Franc registered a record high against the Romanian leu.
