Romania, second highest construction work increase in EU

Romania registered the largest decline among EU countries in construction work in January compared to the previous month, but it rose by 12.8% year-on-year, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

Construction work increased in January by 1.4% year-on-year in the EU and by 3% in the euro area.

Among member states, construction work recorded the highest year-on-year growth in Spain (14.4%), Romania (12.8%) and Sweden (11.3%), while the biggest decreases were reported in Bulgaria (-4.2%), Great Britain (-3.3%) and Italy (-2.4%).
