Romania repays EUR 35 mln to EU and World Bank

Romania will pay in May some EUR 35.7 million to the European Union and the World Bank from the loan contracted in 2009.

The amount represents interest rates and fees, according to the Finance Ministry, reports local Agerpres.

Since the beginning of the year, Romania has repaid over EUR 1.771 billion to the International Monetary Fund, the European Union and the World Bank.

It paid the largest amount, EUR 1.546 billion, on January 1. Some EUR 1.5 billion of it represented capital repayments, whereas EUR 46.2 million were interest rates and fees.

In 2009, Romania took a EUR 19.95 billion loan.
