Romania repays EU interest rates and fees worth EUR 38.5 mln

Romania will repay in April some EUR 38.5 million to the European Union (EU), from the loan it made in 2009.

The amount represents interest rates and fees, according to Public Finance Ministry, reports local Agerpres.

Since the beginning of the year, the country has repaid over EUR 1.7 billion to the International Monetary Fund, the EU and the World Bank.

It paid the EU over EUR 1.546 billion on January 1, EUR 1.5 billion of which represented capital repayments, and EUR 46.2 million interest rates and fees.

Romania took a EUR 19.95 billion international loan in 2009.
