Romania gets EUR 5 bln from the European Commission

The European Commission approved on Wednesday, February 25, the new Operational Programme Administrative Capacity (POCA) and Human Capital Operational Programme (POCU), which provide EUR 5 billion in funding for Romania between 2014 and 2020.

POCU finances projects in the social field and vocational training and will invest in Romania about EUR 5 billion, EUR 4.3 billion of which come from the EU budget. It replaces the previous financing programme called POSDRU, which runs until this year.

The funds will help people find jobs, improve their education and abilities and reduce poverty.

The other programme POCA plans to invest EUR 658 million to improve the response of the public administration and judicial system to the society’s needs. EUR 553 million of these come from the EU budget.
