Romania borrows EUR 111 mln from commercial banks

Romania’s Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) borrowed Thursday, January 15, EUR 111 million from commercial banks through a five-year bonds auction at an average yield of 2.19%, down compared to November 2013, when the Treasury borrowed at a yield of 2.77% for this type of bond.

Nine banks subscribed offers which totaled EUR 437.4 million, reports local Economica.net.

On January 16, MFP will hold an additional session related to another bond auction on Monday, and wants to borrow an additional EUR 16.6 million, at a yield already determined in the auction.

MFP has borrowed EUR 425.2 million from commercial banks since the beginning of the year and it plans to borrow this year about EUR 222-266 million by issuing treasury bills and about EUR 555-621 million by issuing benchmark bonds.
