Romania awaits second half of 2015 to sell Eurobonds

05 February 2015

Romania could wait until the second half of this year to sell Eurobonds, as the significant financial reserves offer the Government the chance to target lower yields, said Finance Minister Darius Valcov.

Last month, Diana Popescu, deputy general manager within the State Treasury, said that Romania intends to prepare a Eurobond issue by July. This was triggered by Slovakia's success, which obtained record yields.

The bond purchasing program launched by the European Central Bank has led to an increased demand for Romanian assets. That's why the yield on national bonds has been going down, said Darius Valcov, reports local Agerpres.

The yield for the Romanian Eurobonds maturing in 2024 have dropped by four basis points, to 1.96%, according to Bloomberg calculations.
