Romania, affected if total Russian gas shutdown

17 October 2014

Nine EU states would be affected this winter if Russia completely cut off the gas supply, according to a stress test report conducted by the European Commission.

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary and Croatia would be the most affected countries, while others, such as Spain and Portugal, which import gas from Norway and North Africa, would not be affected, reports local Capital.

“A prolonged supply disruption would have a substantial impact in the EU, with the Eastern Member States and the Energy Community countries being affected most,” according to European Commission experts.

Russia again tightens the valve on gas deliveries to Romania.
