Raiffeisen Bank Romania gets EUR 150 mln syndicated loan to fuel lending

12 September 2011

Lender Raiffeisen Bank Romania has signed for a EUR 150 million syndicated loan, of which EUR 40 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This is the second such syndicated loan for Raiffeisen Bank and it will fuel the lending activity.

The first part of the loan, some EUR 40 million, comes from EBRD, the second part, which was raised from an initial EUR 80 million to EUR 110 million, will come from several other banks.

Earlier this year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a EUR 10 million loan to Raiffeisen Bank Romania to fuel energy efficiency projects for local companies.

Extended under the EU/EBRD Energy Efficiency Financing Facility framework, the credit line will be used to finance energy efficiency investments by Romanian companies with long-term loans worth up to EUR 2.5 million each. The project will enable the private industrial sector to maximise energy savings and to improve its overall competitiveness.
