Lukoil wants to drill two new wells in the Black Sea, Romania

02 April 2015

Lukoil Overseas, the international exploration and production division of Russian oil group Lukoil, plans to drill two new wells in the depths of the Black Sea this year.

It will drill them in the Trident offshore perimeter, one of the two blocks the group has in concession, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

Last year, the Russian group spent USD 189 million for exploration and production activities in Romania. This was 27 times more than in 2013.

Romania is considered a promising area, together with Iraq, Uzbekistan or the Caspian region.

Last week, private equity company Carlyle Group paid USD 42.5 million to take over the offshore perimeters the Canadian group Sterling had in the Black Sea.
