Lower sales for Ford's B-MAX car model produced in Romania
The European sales of the Ford B-MAX car model, produced in Romania’s Craiova, went down by 19% in the first quarter of the year, despite the 12% Ford sales increase in Europe.
The car model had a monthly average sales volume below 5,000 units, reports local Hotnews.ro.
Last year, sales stood below 53,000 units, down 31% compared to 2013.
The Ford plant in Craiova is waiting for a second model, which could be the EcoSport SUV, but no sooner than mid-2017.
Ford sold 335,000 cars in Europe in the first three months, 37,000 more year-on-year. Fiesta was Ford’s best-selling European model, with 87,000 units.
Ford B-MAX sold 6,300 units in March, and 13,500 units in the first quarter of the year.
