Only 11% of the listed companies in Romania have women in leadership positions

03 November 2015

With a share of 11.3% in April this year, Romania is at the bottom of the European ranking on the percentage of women with leadership positions in large listed companies. Meanwhile, the European average is 21.2%.

France ranks first with a share of 32.8%, while Malta comes last with just 2.5%, according to data from the European Commission.

Moreover, while many European countries have clear targets to promote women in leadership positions, Romania doesn’t have such a target, reports local Agerpres. For example, France wants to reach a share of 40% by 2017, Austria targets 35% by 2018 (from the current 17.8%), Belgium – 33% by 2017 (from 23.4%), and Germany – 30% by 2016 (from 25.4%).

Romania ranks last in the EU on equality between men and women.
