French building material manufacturer Lafarge increased its cement sales in Romania by 14% in the first quarter, compared to the same period last year.

Several projects that the company launched at the beginning of the year and the good weather triggered the growth, according to a company report.

For 2015, Lafarge estimates an increase in cement volume of 2%-5%.

Lafarge will sell its assets in Romania, in a transaction due in the first half of the year, to merge with Swiss producer Holcim. The Irish group CRH will take over Lafarge’s two cement factories in Medgidia and Hoghiz and the grinding station in Targu Jiu.
