Lafarge ups cement sales by 2.1% in Romania

19 February 2015

French building materials producer Lafarge increased last year by 2.1% the cement volumes sold on the Romanian market, compared to 2013.

The sales improved on the residential segment, which compensated for the decrease in the infrastructure work, according to a company’s report, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

The group wants to grow in Romania by 2-5% this year.

Lafarge announced in July last year that it would sell its assets in Romania as part of the large-scale merger with Swiss competitor Holcim.

Holcim, based in Jona, Switzerland, and Lafarge are seeking to create a building material producer giant. The merger is estimated at USD 40 million (EUR 35 million).
