PwC Romania names new country managing partner

Romanian Ionut Simion will take over the Country Managing Partner position of PwC Romania starting July 1, 2015. Vasile Iuga, who has held this position for 11 years, will continue to be South East Europe Cluster Leader within the firm, PwC announced.

“I start this new chapter at a time when both the global economy and the professional services sector change at Internet speed. My primary objective is related to leadership in the market, for the firm as well as our clients, both in the private and public sectors,” said Ionut Simion.

Ionut Simion joined PwC Romania in 2000 and was appointed Tax and Legal Services Partner in 2007. He has specialized in transfer pricing, international tax structuring and was involved in many M&A projects.

Simion holds a PhD in Economy. He teaches tax law at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest as part of a taxation Master’s programme. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), assistant member of the Joint Forum of the European Union on transfer pricing and a member of the Romanian Chamber of Tax Consultants.

Ionut Simion is also vice-president of AmCham Romania.

As a passionate marathon runner, he is the main sponsor of the PwC run4fun club, as well as of the PwC football team.

Vasile Iuga joined PwC upon its incorporation in Romania, in 1991. He became Partner in 1997, and he has been the Country Managing Partner for Romania since 2004. In 2008, Iuga was appointed Managing Partner of PwC for South-Eastern Europe (SEE), a region covering 11 countries with over 1,100 employees.
