IMF unhappy about state aid and arrear cancelation in Romania

06 February 2015

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation to Romania has asked the Government to stop offering state aid, according to Mihai Tudose, the Economy & Tourism Minister, cited by local Mediafax.

Canceling the arrears of big state-owned companies is another problem, according to IMF representatives.

On Friday, the Government will have the most important meeting with the IMF delegation, where all the ministers will take part, Finance Minister Darius Valcov said. They will try to reach a consensus with the IMF experts and will decide whether the agreement will continue.

The Romanian National Bank (BNR) is ready for a possible interruption of the IMF agreement before its deadline, said Mugur Isarescu, BNR governor.
