Five in race for 61 digital TV licenses in Romania

Five companies, namely 2K Telecom, Radio M Plus, Regal, Cargo Sped and Digital Video Broadcast have submitted their applications to participate in the second allocation round for the 61 licenses (multiplexes) of local, regional and national digital television, according to Romania's National Communication Authority ANCOM.

The authority will announce the winning bids after this first step by January 20. All licenses are granted for a period of 10 years, and the winners will be able to broadcast after June 17.

The minimum license fee for each of the two national multiplexes is EUR 300,000, while for the regional and local multiplexes it ranges from EUR 12,000 for a regional multiplex in Bucharest to EUR 1,000 for a multiplex located in a place that is not county seat.
