Five companies in the race for hydropower plant in Romania
Five companies have submitted preliminary offers to develop the Tarnita-Lapustesti hydropower plant.
This will be built in northwestern Romania, near Cluj Napoca, and will be worth EUR 1 billion.
“We’ve received letters of intent from international financial institutions, which shows the growing interest in this strategic project,” said Ovidiu Demetrescu, general director of the project company Hidro Tarnita, cited by local Hotnews.ro.
The power plant will create 4,000 jobs and will revitalize the local industry, Demetrescu added.
Building it would take between five and seven years, according to estimates.
