Jean Negulesco was a Romanian director and screenwriter, a pioneer in cinemascope, a wide-screen technique in the 1950s. He has worked for the major American film studios such as Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox and he has received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Several Romanian artists have started to become famous abroad, some even more famous internationally than in their home country. They have started to work with international producers, deliver European tours and rank high in European charts, while shooting their videos abroad. Romania-insider.com looks at some of the names that got international fame.

The famous 'Ox Cart' painting by Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu, which was auctioned for EUR 155,000 last week in Bucharest, is among the most expensive art works sold in Romania so far. The painting's value was estimated between EUR 150,000 and EUR 250,000. The painting was sold at Artmark's auction last week and the buyer was Romanian investor Mircea Cristian Vescan, the owner of Armax Gaz Medias, according to Romanian media.

The Dobrogea Water administration is offering for lease several lakes in Constanta, as well as water surfaces on the Danube and on the Black Sea. Winners of the bid will be able to build wind farms there or organize water shows. Techirghiol, Tabacarie and Mangalia are among the lakes up for bid. Based on demand, water areas on the Danube and on the Black Sea could also be rented out.

The quarrel between foreign investors and local authorities about wind energy projects in Dobrogea went on from a site clash this summer to a battle of official declarations. Two of the foreign investors which have started projects in the Cogealac area, CEZ and Eolica, both underline the risks of blocking investments in the area. Their takes on this however differ.
