Update: Adevarul Holding, a media company owned by Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu (in picture), has received the license to start a generalist TV station called Adevarul TV and a network of 40 local stations, all with an investment of EUR 37 million.

Several Romanian artists have started to become famous abroad, some even more famous internationally than in their home country. They have started to work with international producers, deliver European tours and rank high in European charts, while shooting their videos abroad. US real estate investor Rockefeller Group International has bought the 75 percent stake in Europa Capital, an investment fund manager which has properties in Romania. The company manages Europa Emerging Europe Fund, which focuses on Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Croatia and Serbia. The fund has properties in Bucharest, Timisoara and Cluj Napoca.

The famous 'Ox Cart' painting by Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu, which was auctioned for EUR 155,000 last week in Bucharest, is among the most expensive art works sold in Romania so far. The painting's value was estimated between EUR 150,000 and EUR 250,000. The painting was sold at Artmark's auction last week and the buyer was Romanian investor Mircea Cristian Vescan, the owner of Armax Gaz Medias, according to Romanian media.

Romanian businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu is the third local media owner who has been detained for 24 hours, after Dinu Patriciu, the current owner of Adevarul Holding, and Dan Diaconescu, owner of OTV Tv station.

The Dobrogea Water administration is offering for lease several lakes in Constanta, as well as water surfaces on the Danube and on the Black Sea. Winners of the bid will be able to build wind farms there or organize water shows. Techirghiol, Tabacarie and Mangalia are among the lakes up for bid. Based on demand, water areas on the Danube and on the Black Sea could also be rented out.

Asking rents for retail spaces in Bucharest went down in the last two years by as much as 50 percent and even more in some area of the capital city, according to a recent report issued by More Real Estate Services.

Synergy Group, owned by expats Savas Gunata and Huseyin Karali, has expanded to Libya, where it has recently opened an office and where it currently tenders for large state projects. The expansion is part of the group's strategy to add new countries to its geographical coverage.

The quarrel between foreign investors and local authorities about wind energy projects in Dobrogea went on from a site clash this summer to a battle of official declarations. Two of the foreign investors which have started projects in the Cogealac area, CEZ and Eolica, both underline the risks of blocking investments in the area. Their takes on this however differ.
