Local group UTI has sold Cobra Security company to Swedish group Securitas AB, which is represented locally by Securitas Services România, according to Mediafax newswire. UTI group is controlled by Tiberiu Urdareanu. Cobra Security was set up in 1992 and posted around EUR 13 million in turnover last year, up 10 percent on the previous year. The company hires 2,770 staff.

Swedish retailer H&M will open stores in Palas Shopping center in Iasi, as well as in Iulius Mall shopping centers in Timisoara and Cluj Napoca, according to Iulius Group, the owner of the three shopping centers. Palas shopping center is still under construction in Iasi and should be finalized in fall next year. The developer is yet to announce when the H&M stores in Iulius Mall shopping centers will be opened.

Several large retailers will open stores next year in Polus Center Constanta mall, which has been re-branded as Maritimo Shopping Center after the Immofinanz takeover. Swedish clothing retailer H&M and sports retailer Decathlon will open stores in the mall in 2011, when Immofinanz plans to finalize works on the shopping center. French hypermarket chain Auchan will also have a store in the Constanta shopping mall, which should be ready in September next year.

Ten European Union member states still impose restrictions for Romania migrant workers, according to the Romanian Labor Ministry, quoted by Agerpres. The United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Austria, Luxembourg, Holland and Malta make the group of EU countries which restrict the access both Romanian and Bulgarian workers on their markets. The transition period for workers in Romania and Bulgaria started with the EU accession in 2007 and will end in 2013.

A Romanian researcher who invented a device which could detect cancer in early stages works on testing the device and eventually producing it in Romania, with the launch expected early next year. Researcher Raluca-Ioana van Staden has become famous for the invention which has been awarded internationally. After working several years abroad, teaming up with her husband, she chose to come back to Romania to help create a strong Romanian research team. She has talked to romania-insider.com about this invention, which could be expanded to detecting other diseases in the future.
