Eolica Dobrogea receives permits to connect 600 MW to Romanian electricity grid

09 November 2011

Wind parks developer Eolica Dobrogea has recently received the permits to connect an additional 600 MW of wind parts through its Tariverde transformer station in Dobrogea, south – eastern Romania. This brings the total grid connection contracts to 1,200 MW, it has announced.

“About 55 of our wind parks in that region will be connected through the new transformer station at Tariverde to the national 400 kV grid,” according to Eolica Dobrogea's statement.

Iberdrola Renovables, Eolica Dobrogea's contractual partner for the wind park developments in Dobrogea, will start construction of the 220/400 kV station at Tariverde within the coming months. For the first connected wind parks, Iberdrola Renovables will start construction most likely in the second half of 2012.

Eolica Dobrogea signed an agreement in 2008 with Spanish firm Iberdrola Renovables, and started developing Dobrogea wind projects exclusively for Iberdrola. The wind projects which will be connected through Tariverde are still Eolica's, which will sell them to Iberdrola based on this contract, once they will be ready to be built.

The 1,500 MW Tariverde transformer station has received the final construction licences from the municipality of Cogealac.
