Employees of Dacia plant in Romania infected with COVID-19

Dacia officials confirmed on Thursday, July 16, that several of its employees working at the plant in Mioveni, in Arges county, tested positive for coronavirus, local Mediafax reported. However, the company did not say how many employees are infected.

“Unfortunately, we have employees confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus or suspects who are in isolation. They were confirmed by health authorities with whom we are in touch,” the Renault group said in a press release.

Adrian Stoica, an epidemiologist at the Public Health Department (DSP) in Arges county, told Mediafax that he does not know the number of positive employees at this time.

Arges county prefect Emanuel Soare said on Thursday, after a meeting with the Dacia plant management, that the number of COVID-19 cases registered at the factory in Mioveni is not worrying, Stirileprotv.ro reported.

“Dacia representatives presented the epidemiological situation to the prefect, and the measures implemented so far. The number of Dacia employees infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus is small, the situation is closely monitored by DSP Arges,” reads a press release from the Arges Prefect Institution.

“The prevention measures (e.n. at the Dacia plant) are impeccable; they are constantly checking compliance, analyze the situations that occurred, and are always looking for new solutions. There are no significant outbreaks at the plant, most cases are unrelated and can most likely be attributed to the spread of the virus in the community,” the prefect said.

The Dacia factory, which employs about 14,000 people, resumed activity in early May, after being closed for more than a month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
