Construction work, up by 15% in Romania

Construction work in Romania increased in the first two months of the year by almost 15% compared to the same period in 2014.

The growth was due to the volume of new construction work, which rose by 20.2%, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Capital repair work went down by 2% between January 1 and February 28.

The volume of construction work increased by 14.8% as gross series. New construction work went up by 20.2%, whereas maintenance and current repair work increased by 8.3%. Construction of non-residential buildings rose by 31.2%, while for residential buildings, by 12.3%, and engineering construction increased by 6.3%.

The volume of construction work went up in the first two months by 14.7% as adjusted series by number of working days and seasonality.
