10 April 2015

French cement producer Lafarge has invested EUR 9.3 million in building a waste co-processing station.

The project has received non-reimbursable funds worth EUR 3.5 million through the European Regional Development Fund.

The waste co-processing plant will help the company dispose of the waste in a controlled way, by using it as fuel in its production process. It will thus reduce the production costs of its plant in Medgidia, as well as the fossil fuel consumption, said Costin Borc, CEO Lafarge Romania, according o Agerpres.

In Romania, Lafarge has over 40 production sites, which employ about 1,000 people.
