Bucharest metro operator GM resigns

25 March 2015

Aurel Radu, general manager of the Bucharest metro operator Metrorex, has resigned, after talks with Transport Minister Ioan Rus.

Catalin Homor, director of Investment and Procurement within Metrorex, has temporarily taken over the GM position.

Anticorruption prosecutors recently made searches at the Metrorex headquarters. They investigate corruption in an auction to buy over 50 metro trains.

Last week, Metrorex announced that it would increase tariffs, which generated protests.

The company has estimated for this year higher personnel expenses with the employees’ bonuses and directors’ contracts.
