Bucharest City Hall hopes for EUR 800 mln loan from Deutsche Bank Americas to pay off bonds

07 November 2011

The Bucharest City Hall could get a EUR 800 million loan from Deutsche Bank Americas, mainly to pay off the EUR 500 million bonds issued by the municipality, according to a statement. The loan would also cover some investments which have been stopped due to lack of financing.

Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu has met Seth Waugh, the head of Deutsche Bank Americas, and has asked the bank to attentively deal with Bucharest's request for money.

Oprescu is currently in the US at the invitation of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and takes part in the "Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship: City Strategies" summit.

The Bucharest General Council has already twice said 'No' to getting a EUR 800 million loan for the Municipality.
