British Ambassador: Romanian market is little known in the UK

10 September 2014

The British Ambassador to Bucharest Paul Brummel recently said that the Romanian market “is too little known in the UK”, adding that a very important task for him is to attract more investors to Romania from his home country, reports local Agerpres.

He was also impressed by the fact that bilateral trade reached EUR 3.3 billion in 2013. “It is a record level and it means that trade relations are going in a great direction, but the balance is in Romania’s favour. Last year, Romania exports to UK reached almost EUR 2 billion and British exports to Romania were of nearly EUR 1.25 billion. For me, an important job is to attract more British companies to Romania, and more British investments,” said Brummel.

He said however that the Romanian market is too little known in the UK, although, in his opinion, there are ‘many advantages” such as highly skilled workforce, who speak good English, the geographical location or the fact that Romania has “one of the highest rates of GDP growth in the EU”.
