Romania’s Dacia launches limited Pick-Up version of its Duster model

Romanian carmaker Dacia, part of French group Renault, made a Pick-Up version of its Dacia Duster SUV model, for local oil&gas company OMV Petrom.

The new Duster Pick-Up was created in partnership with independent coach builder Romturingia specifically to meet OMV Petrom’s demands and will only be made in a limited edition of 500 units, all of which will be delivered to Petrom by the end of 2015.

The new version is derived from the standard 4x4 Duster models and are equipped with 1.5 liter diesel engines. It has a single cabin which has external reinforcement and can carry up to 450 kilograms.

OMV Petrom will use the vehicles to service its more than 9,000 active oil wells in Romania. The value of the contract was not made public.
