Young Romanian among the creators of an app awarded by Facebook London

Young Romanian entrepreneur Paula Pascu was part of the team that created UKADEMICS, an app that can be used to apply to international universities directly from the mobile phone. The app won best start-up at European level in 2014, a prize awarded by Facebook’s headquarters in London.

UKADEMICS markets itself as being the equivalent of tourism booking site Booking.com in education. The platform currently includes 380 universities in the UK, but plans to expand by adding universities in the U.S., Netherlands, Denmark, China, Canada, Australia and Brazil.

UKADEMICS was created by a team of young entrepreneurs consisting of Paula Pascu from Romania, Andre Rosendo from Portugal, Vako Imnaishvili from Georgia and Maike Tils from Germany. It was elected the winner from a list of 425 projects from 27 countries.

The award won by the UKADEMCS team consists of an investment of 150,000 GBP and a two-year coaching program offered by technology and marketing experts from Worth Capital London.
