Romanian airline Tarom leases two new Boeing aircraft for its fleet

11 May 2018

Two Boeing 737-800 NG (Next Generation) aircraft will join Romanian state airline Tarom’s fleet starting June this year, the company announced.

The company will use the new aircraft on its existing routes as well as on new routes to be opened.

Tarom signed a 7-year operational leasing contract with Boeing for the two aircraft. The company will make the first payments in two years. The Boeing 737-800 NG can carry up to 160 passengers on a distance of up to 4,260 kilometers.

As Romania celebrates its Centennial this year, Tarom has decided to name the two aircraft after two Romanian prices, Mihai Viteazu (Michael the Brave) and Alexandru Ioan Cuza. Mihai Viteazu carried out the first great union of the Romanian principalities in 1600 while Cuza completed the union between Moldova and Tara Romaneasca to form Romania, in 1859.
