Swedish appliance producer records worst year in Romania

Swedish group Electrolux, the second biggest appliance manufacturer worldwide, posted a EUR 32.2 million turnover in 2014 in Romania, down by 5.7 over the previous year.

It has been the worst year for the Swedish company on the Romanian market since 2001, according to data presented by the group, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

Electrolux posted the highest turnover in 2007, EUR 72.1 million while it recorded the worst sales in 1999, some EUR 26.5 million.

The company posted a EUR 34.1 turnover in 2013, up 3.6% year-on-year.

The Swedish producer, which entered the Romanian market in 1995, has been the majority owner of the Electrolux factory in northern Romania since 1997. The group had 776 employees at the end of 2014, less than 886 employees in 2013.
