Most Romanian employees have little or no IT skills

Romania ranks last among the EU member states for the employees’ IT skills, with 77% of the Romanian workforce having a low level or no IT competencies.

The percentage is more than double the EU average, according to the European Commission’s Country Report on Romania for 2015.

Only 7.7% of the Internet users use e-banking services, whereas only 17% of the Romanians shop online, ranking last in the EU for e-commerce.

The National Strategy on Digital Agenda for Romania 2014- 2020 aims to increase Romania’s competitiveness and plans to increase the number of employees in the IT&C sector to some 250,000 over the next six years, following invests of EUR 3.9 billion.
