Romania ranks 14th at European Games after totaling 17 medals

Romania collected 17 medals (6 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze) and ranked 14th in the medal standings at the 2023 European Games in Krakow-Malopolska, Poland.

Gold medals were won by cyclist Vlad Dascălu in mountain biking, athlete Claudia Bobocea in the 1,500 meters race, Bernadette Szocs in table tennis (women's singles), Kinga Barabasi (women's singles), Apor Gyorgydeak (men's singles) in teqball, the Romanian women's table tennis team (Bernadette Szocs, Elizabeta Samara, Andreea Dragoman, Adina Diaconu), according to Agerpers.

Silver medals were secured by athletes Bianca Ghelber in hammer throw and Daniela Stanciu in high jump, Cătălin Chirilă in men's canoe single 500 meters, fencer Ilinca Pantiş in saber, the pair Kinga Barabasi and Katalin Dako in teqball (women's doubles), and boxer Lăcrămioara Perijoc in the 54 kg category.

Bronze medals were obtained by karateka Ştefan Comănescu in the 67 kg category (kumite), athlete Andrea Miklos in the 400 meters, fencer Mălina Călugăreanu in foil, the pair Ovidiu Ionescu/Bernadette Szocs (mixed doubles), and Elizabeta Samara (women's singles) in table tennis.

Romania participated in the European Games in Krakow-Malopolska (June 21-July 2) with 150 athletes, 74 females and 76 males, in 18 sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, judo, canoe-kayak, karate, rugby, ski jumping, diving, fencing, taekwondo, table tennis, teqball, archery, shooting, and triathlon.

In the first edition of the European Games in Baku 2015, Romania ranked 17th in the medal tally with a total of 3-5-4, and 26th in 2019, in Minsk.
