Romania wins five gold medals, one silver at European Rowing Championship

Romania won gold in the women's 8+1 event at the European Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia, collecting a total of five gold medals and one silver.

Romania's team (Magdalena Rusu, Roxana Anghel, Adriana Adam, Maria Tivodariu, Mădălina Bereş, Amalia Bereş, Ioana Vrînceanu, Simona Radiş, Victoria-Ştefania Petreanu) secured the victory with a time of 6 minutes 1 second and 55/100, with a significant distance from Great Britain (06:08.01) and Italy (06:13.07), according to G4Media.

On Saturday, May 27, the women's coxless four-members team, composed of Mădălina Bereş, Maria Tivodariu, Magdalena Rusu, and Amalia Bereş, won gold, while the men's 8+1 (Mihăiţă Ţigănescu, Ciprian Tudosă, Florin Arteni, Mugurel Vasile Semciuc, Marius Cozmiuc, Sergiu Bejan, Ştefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci, Adrian Munteanu) secured the silver.

On Sunday, Ionela Cozmiuc won gold in the lightweight single sculls event, while Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel became European champions in the women's double sculls. Ancuţa Bodnar and Simona Radiş brought another gold medal in the women's double sculls, and Romania claimed gold in the women's 8+1 (Magdalena Rusu, Roxana Anghel, Adriana Adam, Maria Tivodariu, Mădălina Bereş, Amalia Bereş, Ioana Vrînceanu, Simona Radiş, Victoria-Ştefania Petreanu).

Romania finished second overall out of 11 countries participating in the European Championships in Slovenia. Great Britain took first place, while the Netherlands took third.

Romania concluded the 2022 European Championships in Munich with five gold medals and three bronzes, the best result in the history of Romanian rowing at the continental competition.
