Retail sales maintain double digit growth in Romania in November

Romania’s retail trade turnover went up by 11.4% (as a gross series) in November 2017 compared to the same period of 2016, the National Statistics Institute (INS) announced on Monday. In seasonally adjusted terms, the increase was 11.7%.

Food sales were up 9.2% year on year, non-food products saw a 12% increase in sales, and fuel sales increased by 13.8%.

When compared to the previous month, retail sales increased by 2.4% in November (0.7% in seasonally adjusted terms).

In the first 11 months of 2017, the retail trade turnover went up by 10.3% compared to the same period of 2016 (9.4% in seasonally adjusted terms). Non-food sales accelerated by 13% and fuel sales went up by 12.2% while food sales saw a growth on 6.1%.
