Modern horticultural research institute opens in Cluj-Napoca

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca inaugurated yesterday the Advanced Horticultural Research Institute of Transylvania, in the presence of Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.

This is the largest such institution in the country, spanning on a surface of over 9.700 sqm. The investment was financed with EUR 9.4 million from EU funds plus a contribution of EUR 2.2 million from the university.

The University in Cluj-Napoca now owns a research institute with modern equipment, which can carry out several projects in the horticulture field.

Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos said at the opening that Romania should dare to innovate and not only catch up with more developed countries in terms of horticulture research.
