Media: Potato chips producer Intersnack to move Bulgarian production to Romania

German producer Intersnack will close down its factory in Bulgaria and move production of potato chips and nuts to a factory in neighbor Romania, according to SeeNews, quoting Bulgarian media.

The German Intersnack produces potato chips, nuts, baked products and specialty snacks. In Romania, it has a factory in Ghimbav, near Brasov, which was opened in 2010 following investments of EUR 7 million. The company uses local potatoes bought from Romanian farmers for its salted potato chips.

Intersnack Romania also produces Maxi Mix salted snacks, Pom Bar and Brezli products. Intersnack's brands also include Chio Chips, Nutline, Fiesta and Felix.

Its main competitor in Romania is PepsiCo, which bought Star Foods in 2004.
