Telekom launches first smartphone under T brand in Romania

23 October 2014

Telecommunications company Telekom Romania has launched the first smartphone under the T brand in Romania. The phone, called Speedsurfer and made by Huawei, sells for RON 99 – or some EUR 22 – when bought together with a Telekom subscription.

The terminal comes with an Android system, and can support download speeds up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. It also has a 5 MP camera, a 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM memory.

This is the first private label phone Telekom launches in Romania under its new brand, after the former Romtelecom and Cosmote re-branded as Telekom Romania Communications and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications earlier this year. The brand is part of Deutsche Telekom, which had EUR 60 billion in revenues in 2013, more than half of which outside Germany.
