Romanians have an average EUR 630 (some RON 2,770) in their private pension accounts end-June, according to data from the Financial Supervising Authority ASF.

Launched in 2008, the mandatory private pensions systems has 6.1 million participants, but only 3 million of them have had monthly contributions since 2008.

About 190,000 people failed to make any contribution. For the people who made regular monthly contributions, the average amount in the private pension account is of EUR 894 (RON 3,921), a growth of 17 percent on end-2013.
