Gross minimum wage to increase to RON 975 in Romania

The gross minimum wage could go up to RON 975 (about EUR 220), from January 1, 2015, and further on to RON 1,050 (about EUR 237) starting by July 1, 2015, for a full working schedule of 168 hours a month, according to a draft decision released yesterday on the website of the Ministry of Family, Social Protection and the Elderly, cited by local Agerpres.

The increase in the gross minimum wage will affect about 1.471 million people, 488,630 of which are public sector employees and 982,726 employees in the competitive sector, reads the draft.

The minimum wage is currently RON 900 (about EUR 203).
