Govt. approves EUR 15 mln financing for ORs of Bucharest’s University Hospital

20 March 2019

The government approved a RON 71 million (EUR 14.9 million) financing set to cover the endowment of the 11 operating rooms making up the central operating block of the University Hospital in Bucharest.

The money will be used for the purchase of latest-generation medical equipment “needed to create a unitary, integrated and performant structure to cover the needs of the patients.”

The endowment will facilitate the use of modern techniques for all specialties, the Health Ministry explained. These include the laparoscopic approach, which allows for faster recovery, shorter hospital stays and decreased risk of infections.

The investment is to be carried out over 18 months.

“The Government allotted substantial funds this year, with which we will make major investments at medical units across the country. The project approved today is only the first step and is part of the measures aimed at implementing the National Health Strategy and the 2014 – 2020 Action Plan,” Sorina Pintea, the health minister, said, quoted by News.ro.
