American company Yahoo will launch its e-mail service in Romanian and its Yahoo.ro page in Romania in March this year, according to Mihai Fanache, manager of Media Cafe, the company that sells advertising on Yahoo's websites in Romania, quoted by Romanian online publication Wall-street.ro.
The Third District City Hall in Bucharest will pay around EUR 2.4 million for the preservation, restoration and enhancement works of Eliad Culture House, a historic monument located on Mircea Voda Street. A company called S.C. Euroconex has been awarded the renovation contract.
Romania wants to double the number of foreign tourists that visit it by 2015 compared to the numbers recorder in 2010, according to the Tourism Ministry’s strategy. According to the country's statistics institute, 1.3 million foreign tourists visited Romania last year, up 5.6 percent compared to 2009.
The Romanian Regional Development and Tourism Ministry will launch programs like “Guardian Angels” (Ingeri Pazitori), “We care” (Ne pasa) and “Romania welcomes you” (Romania iti ureaza bun venit), hoping to attract more tourists to the country. Such programs should start from 2012 and are part of the recently revealed marketing plan, which will cost EUR 118 million over the next four years.
Romania has put aside some EUR 118 million for its strategic and operational marketing plan until 2015 and plans to spend EUR 21.5 million this year alone on promoting the country as a tourist destination.
Romanian oil company Rompetrol on Wednesday increased the pump prices of gasoline by RON 0.02 (EUR 1=RON 4.2584) per liter, while diesel fuel prices rose by RON 0.07 per liter. Thus, Efix 95 gasoline now costs RON 5.07 per liter, while Alto 101 gasoline now costs RON 5.74 per liter.
The European Film Festival, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) will take place in Bucharest and four other cities in Romania in May this year. As many as 50 European movie productions will be screened during the festival. This is the 15th edition of the event.
Romanian carmaker Dacia, owned by French group Renault, will launch two family car models this year, a minivan that will cost EUR 14,800, which could be called Popster, and a city car derived from a light commercial vehicle, according to L'Automobile Magazine.
