Some 10,000 Romanians will go on cruises this year, according to Antonio Nitu, general director of travel agency Aerotravel.

“Cruises are no longer an extravagance, the average value of a cruise in the Mediterranean is EUR 700,” said Nitu, reports local Wall-street.ro.

Cruise operators have "helped" the local market develop because they introduced special prices, lower that in Western Europe, he explained.

Romania has been an emerging market for large cruise operators. They had a special pricing policy for Romania. Slowly the local market is growing up and the special prices become less frequent.

The most popular cruises among Romanians are the ones on the Mediterranean. The cruises on the Baltic sea and the Fjords of Norway are also popular.
