Youth winter Olympics in Brasov: Romania has 1 silver, Slovenia dominates today's ski jumping
Romanian Emil Imre won silver in the short track speed skating 500m event. Italy was second in the medal table with a gold, a silver and two bronze medals, while France, with one gold and one bronze, was third yesterday evening.
The ski jumping event at the new facility in Rasnov is on at the moment and it has been a great day so far for Slovenia. In the boy's event, Slovenia’s Prevc Cene won with a 98.5m jump and score of 261 points. Second place also went to Slovenia – Lanisek Anze with a 97.5m jump and 256 points. Thomas Hofer of Austria came third with a 96m jump and a total of 246.5 points. (All three in picture)
After the event, the winner Prevc Cene said he hadn't felt too nervous and added that the Rasnov facilities were very good.
Among the competitions decided in the first days were the giant slalom alpine skiing event, the cross-country skiing and the 500m and the 1,500m short track speed skating. The European Youth Winter Olympics continue all week in the Brasov area, finishing on February 22.
